Le Matin covers the Cinema for Peace 2023 Gala

The 20th Cinema for Peace Gala took place on February 24th, the first anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. The patron of the gala is the Ukrainian Nobel Peace Prize winner Oleksandra Matviichuk. Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko have been board members of Cinema for Peace since its inception 20 years ago.

The star of this year's gala was the Ukrainian people, represented by Volodymyr Obidzinskyi, a common man who lost his wife, children and grandchildren - essentially all his family members - to Russian air raids in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk acted as the gala's honorary patron and held a Zoom conversation with prosecutors from the "Court of World Citizens," which had just issued a warrant for Vladimir Putin's arrest in The Hague for crimes of aggression.
