Cinema for Peace celebrated films 'Flags from Our Fathers' and 'Letters from Iwo Jima' are put forward as evidence that war is destructive and heartbreaking- no matter which side you are on
War History Online published a poignat article that uses Clint Eastwoods cricially aclaimed Iwo Jima duology to point out which is often overlooked in war: no-one wins, everybod loses something. The article celeberates Eastwoods films for demonstarting that on both sides of war there is trauma, destruction and a legacy of sadness. No one comes out unscathed.
As the article mentions, Cinema for Peace also recognised the two films for this important stament on war, which is why they won the Cinema for Peace Award for the Most Valuable Film of the Year in 2007.
